There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a DIY herpes test at the doctor’s office when you can easily do it at home for a fraction of the cost. You can find out if you have herpes in just 10 minutes with just a few simple supplies.

To start, you will need to gather a few supplies. You will need a cotton swab, a disposable cup, and viral transport media (VTM). Viral transport media can be bought online or at some pharmacies. Once you have gathered your supplies, you are ready to begin the test.

Swab the inside of your cheek with a cotton swab. Then, place the swab in the disposable cup and add enough VTM to cover the swab. After the swab is fully submerged in the VTM, place the lid on the cup and shake it for 10 seconds.

After shaking the cup for 10 seconds, remove the lid and place the cup in the microwave. Microwave the cup for 10 minutes on the highest setting. After 10 minutes, remove the cup from the microwave and allow it to cool for 1 minute.

Open it and remove the cotton swab. Carefully place the cotton swab in the viral transport media and close the lid on the cup. Shake the cup for 10 seconds and then place it in the refrigerator. Allow the cotton swab to soak in the VTM for at least 1 hour.

After 1 hour:

  1. Remove the cup from the refrigerator and open it.
  2. Carefully remove the cotton swab from the VTM and place it in a new disposable cup.
  3. Add enough distilled water to the cup to cover the cotton swab.
  4. Swirl the cotton swab around in the water for 10 seconds and then remove it.

Place the cotton swab on a clean surface and allow it to air dry for 5 minutes. Once the cotton swab is dry, you will need to observe it under a microscope. If you see any red bumps on the cotton swab, that is an indication that you have herpes.

In just 10 minutes, you can easily find out if you have herpes with this DIY herpes test. In addition, you can save hundreds of dollars by avoiding a trip to the doctor’s office with just a few simple supplies.

If you decide to leave it untreated, things could degenerate, and you find yourself in difficult situation. Never go that route!
