Types of Rotisseries

There are three main types of rotisseries that are made for home use. Small counter-top rotisseries work basically the same way that commercial ones do. Each of the three types offers you unique benefits.

The Horizontal Rotisserie

This is the most common type and they come in a number of shapes, sizes, and prices. They are great for roasting your meat and keeping in the juices. These types of rotisseries are the most popular on the market. The only downside is that some need to be balanced correctly in order to work effectively.

The Vertical Rotisserie

These types of rotisseries are similar to the horizontal type, except for the design and the direction of the spit. The biggest advantage of using this type is the fact that you do not need to worry about balancing it because it is vertical. One thing that many people like about this type of rotisserie is that it takes up less space, which is great for smaller spaces and homes.

The fact that the vertical design allows the juices to flow downwards causes mixed feelings among consumers but it also creates a healthier meal option at the end. It depends on whether you want to keep all the juices in the meat or you prefer the fats to drain off.

The Rotisserie Toaster Oven

This type of gas rotisserie provides you with not only the benefit of being able to cook meats in them but they can also be used for making pizza, toast, baking cookies and a number of other things. They are the multi-taskers of the gas rotisserie family.

If the added versatility is not what you are looking for, then this type of appliance might not be right for you. If this is the case, choosing a horizontal or vertical rotisserie might be a better fit, as they are designed for only one function, not many.

At the end of the day, it essentially comes down to what you, as the customer, are looking for. If you love to roast meat on a regular basis, the latter is not the option for you but if you need an appliance that can roast and do other things as well, you should opt for either a vertical or horizontal model.

You may even want to get two, one for the home and one for the camper when you go on weekends away.
