5 Ways To Grow In Christ

The foundation of being a Christian is believing in Christ, trusting Him, and receiving Him as Savior. We accept His death on the cross at Calvary as full payment for our sins, and we receive God’s gift of eternal life through faith in Him alone. However, having been brought from spiritual deadness into a new life in Christ, we grow spiritually over time. Here are four ways to grow in Christ:

1) Read the Bible every day. Make it a goal to read three chapters a day, or five or ten if you can manage it. You might want to make a list of verses you want to memorize while you’re at it. Reading a bible every day will not only increase your knowledge about Christ but help you develop a daily Christian walk. Reading Bible will also benefit you by building your faith, which is necessary for entering the presence of God.

2) Pray for different people every day. Take time to pray for your family, church community, and country–even those you consider enemies. Ask God to guide you as you seek to show love and kindness toward others. When you pray for others, you’re obeying Christ’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).

3) Attend church regularly. You can learn so much about Christ’s teaching by being around the people of God in a Christian community! And fellowship with other Christians is part of what it means to be fully united with Christ. When you attend church regularly, it helps you discern God’s voice.

4) Find an accountability partner who will encourage you to grow spiritually. Scripture exhorts us biblically faithful people to encourage one another daily while it is still called Today (Hebrews 3:13; 10:25), and God has given each of us unique spiritual gifts to serve the body of Christ (Romans 12:3-8). Find an accountability partner who will help you stay accountable in growing in Christ! This can help you in many ways, such as encouraging you in your walk with God and helping you succeed in the other areas.

5) Support a missionary. There are more than 1 million people around the world who have yet to hear about Jesus Christ. This means a great need to support missionaries who go to these unreached peoples and places. Many do not know how to read or write, which makes it hard for them to understand Scripture even when they’ve heard it! They need readers and writers who will work with them, teaching them how to comprehend God’s Word as they grow closer to Him.

By reading the Bible daily, praying for those around us, attending church regularly, and serving others, we can grow in Christ.
